Heroes: Lots of Dead Heroes

The latest episode was deemed the season finale, but the show returns in February. Whether I'll be returning to NBC to watch it, is another issue. Whether there are any heroes left to watch next season, is what we'll explore now.

It seems a lot of heroes took their last bow. Claire lost her biological mother, the fire thrower. The fear feeder, also known as Marlo from "The Wire," was iced to death. Sylar was killed, and a few other rogue "heroes" succumbed to death in various ways. Elle and Arthur Petrelli were murdered last week. So, only the original Petrellis, Hiro, Ando, Mohinder, Tracy, Parkman and Daphne seem to be left? Am I missing anybody. The list is getting shorter.

Yes, Hiro did survive. The last episode had him hanging on a ledge. He pulled himself to safety, but was almost sliced to death by his father. Is it me or is Hiro starting to remind you of Charlie Brown. Whenever he tries to do something, I end up thinking, "Good Grief." Please, help this wayward hero get himself together! I can't take it anymore. I'm expecting a girl dressed in blue to pull a football from him any second now.

The next season's preview promises more darkness. The heroes will be hunted and captures. Oh, joy!

Will you watch, or have you had it with these heroes?

Heroes: Papa Petrelli Dead?!

Sylar's a bad guy again, and although I'm no supporter of evil, I'm glad he's not giving me cavities anymore. Last week, he killed his lover Elle. This week, he killed Papa Petrelli after finding out that he was not the brother of Nathan and Peter. I wonder if he was more upset about not being a Petrelli or about being lied to and used? Either way, it ended badly for the leader of "those with abilities."

Right before his death, Papa Petrelli added the catalyst to Mohinder's formula. Supposedly, this will give regular folks a chance to have powers, and hopefully, it will reverse whatever Mohinder did to himself. When the formula is tried on a former 4400, it works well, and he starts throwing chairs through glass to show his strength.

I wish Hiro could show some of that strength. It was nice to see him reunited with his mother -- if only briefly; however, it was sort of pathetic to see him persuade his mother to give him the catalyst and then lose it not an hour later! He told her he would protect it, but that's not exactly what went down. Hiro ended up hanging off a building from a flag pole. I need for him to get it together. Part of his charm was knowing Hiro was going to become a Jedi master. What happened? When does that kick in?

What do you think? Will Mohinder be cute again? Will Hiro ever get it together? Is Papa Petrelli really dead? Will Sylar ever go good again? Will the formula work this time, or will the heroes need to save the world from the monsters they create?

Heroes: Total Eclipse of the Sun, Part 2

So, as we all predicted, the heroes' powers returned once the eclipse ended. Claire healed herself after being split open. This would make the second time she's come alive after such a procedure. Nathan can fly again. Daphne's running once more. Hiro's time traveling, and Sylar is back to splitting skulls. That's bad news for Elle, who became a victim of the monster she helped create.

Unfortunately for Mohinder, the end of the eclipse also brought back his scales. Will viewers be forced to see him turned into the Fly for the remainder of the season? I sure hope not. It's an unnecessary sidebar to the main story line, if you ask me. Why they felt the need to disfigure one of the favorite and most attractive characters on the show, I do not know.

So, where is this season going? I think the heroes are still trying to prevent the synthetic mutation serum. I'm unsure, but maybe that will become clear by the season finale.

What do you think? Where is this all going?

Heroes: Finally Living in the Present

The latest episode of "Heroes" chronicled just one day in the lives of the characters. There weren't storylines happening in the past and folks having dreams set in the future. I almost enjoyed it.

An eclipse strips the superhumans of their powers. The Petrelli boys fall from the sky mid-flight. Claire tries to stop a bullet with her body, only to end up in the hospital. Hiro, Ando and Parkman end up stuck in Smallville thanks to one of Hiro's ill-timed blinks.

In the meantime, Sylar and Elle are connecting romantically. If that's good news, than Mohinder's new is phenomenal. He's apparently lost his slimy scales and huge, nasty skin boils. Eclipses don't last forever, so what happens to the heroes and villains after the sun and moon separate is any one's guess.

What do you think? Will these regular, ol' humans get their powers back? Will Mohinder remain free of scales? Where was Nathan dragged off to? What's wrong with Daphne's legs, and why is Hiro 10? I'm pretty sure I missed something there.

Heroes: Hopefully, It Will All Make Sense In Time

Rumor has it that two head writers of "Heroes" have been terminated. I won't rejoice in anyone's misfortune, but I'm looking forward to seeing what the new story lines bring.

The latest episode had more time travel via Hiro, who fell into some sort of trance that allowed him to see what was going on in the lives of the heroes BEFORE the series began.

The most interesting reveal was that Gabrielle and Elle were once close. She was working for the company and ended up helping Gabrielle become Sylar by basically feeding him others with abilities.

We also found out more about the Petrelli family, and we got some background on Claire's fire-throwing mother.

Hopefully, it will all come together and seem relevant in the near future.

What do you think? Are you ready for the back-and-forth between past, present and future to end? Is that the reason this season seems to be dragging along?

Heroes

The latest episode was better than last week's, but still lacking compared to past seasons. There were a few highlights.

  • Parkman learns how to better use his powers.
  • Sylar saves Peter by throwing him out of a window.
  • Miya is "cured" of her strange power.
  • Blonds Ellie and Claire unite.
  • Papa Petrelli kills Adam in a most horrible way.
Did you watch? What do you think of the new season so far? What is Papa Petrelli's ultimate plan?

Heroes: Where Have All the Good Guys Gone?

I can't speak for everyone, but there's a certain reason I enjoy superheros. In addition to their extraordinary abilities, they're on the side of good. They have high morals. You can trust them. They're salt-of-the earth people -- even those like Kalel, who's originally from Krypton.

So, that's why this season of "Heroes" is really starting to irk me. Who are the good guys? Who am I supposed to root for? Who can I trust? I know this season is about villains, but I would have preferred Peter, Mohinder and the rest be absent this season than evil.

Sigh.

With that said, I hope the family angle that results from Papa Petrelli's return distracts me from the horrifically, dark story lines.

What do you think? Is this feeling like "Superman III" to you, too?

Heroes: Villains All Around

Which heroes are good? Which are bad? The line is becoming more and more blurred from week to week. The long list of murderous heroes is growing. Even Claire attempted to pull the trigger on Vortex Man, but she didn't have the heart.

Claire did have the heart to stand up to her father, who tried to force a man to kill Sylar. Instead, Vortex Man sacrificed himself. However, the whole troublesome event forced Claire to see her father in a different light. Will Noah ever see the humanity of those people with powers? Sylar suggests not.

Poor Mohinder. I'm not sure what he's turning into, but it conjures images of "The Fly," and I think we're finally rid of Maya ... thank goodness.

I know Hiro has the power to go back in time, so maybe that's why he failed to give a second thought before killing his BFF Ando. Will Hiro go back and undo what he did? He has to. Right?

What do you think? Will Hiro and Ando be reunited, and if so, will they be friends? What the heck is going on with Mohinder? Where has Papa Patrelli been all this time? Will Nathan turn to the dark side now that he knows his powers are divine? Will everyone from "The Wire" be making appearances this season?

Heroes: Peter Sucks at Saving the World

OK. So, this wasn't the best episode to try to watch while cleaning my room. I blame myself. I know better. You must be fully focused on a "Heroes" episode. I'm no novice. I'm aware of this.

Anyway, half way through the show I really wasn't sure if I was watching the present or the future. Parkman seemed to be in the future, but he wasn't. He was dreaming. The Peters were in the future, and then one Peter was with present Sylar after killing future Gabrielle and future Nathan. There was no present Claire, but there was a Tracy flying through the air, and I'm not sure if she was present, future or past participle, but either way, her new powers are eons better than Jessica/Nikki's powers.

What I did catch was that the Peters are doing a terrible job trying to save the world. If anything, they're accelerating the planet's inevitable demise. Why Peter thought having Sylar's power would be an asset, I don't know, but Sylar did warn him that a hunger comes along with his ability, and Peter might be one of the villains this season. Who would've thunk it?

How will Parkman end up with the Speed chick? Why does "evil" Claire have dark hair? Aren't we tired of this imagery yet? Why is future Mohinder so scary? Who was the mother of Gabrielle/Sylar's son? Are Tracy and Nathan going to break up his marriage? Is there anyone on the show who doesn't paint the future?

Hey. I guess I paid more attention than I thought.

Heroes: A Thirst for Revenge

OK. So, cheerleader Claire is out for blood. That doesn't even sound right. LOL. She's pissed that uncle Sylar opened up her brain and poked around. I'd probably be upset about that, too, but unlike Claire, I would not be able to exact revenge. So, she's the rogue teenager now having escaped from two moms. When will she catch up with her four-eyed dad and his new partner? That is the question.

Speaking of Sylar, it was almost scarier seeing him as a nice guy than it's been seeing him play the villain. He did save Noah, but he killed a guy with a really loud voice. I think we're in for more spooky kindness from Sylar next week.

Are Nikki and Jessica really gone? I'm confused. Where did Peter take Peter? What's the deal with Parkman? Does anybody care? Will Hero's mistrust of Ando actually bring about the betrayal Hero witnessed in the future? I'm thinking so. What do you think?

Heroes: Season Premiere

The premiere of "Heroes" was not a disappointment. After a pitiful season two cut short by the writers' strike, this premiere was a test to see whether fans could be pulled back into the lives of Hero, Peter, Claire and the rest of the gang.

I think I'll be tuning in ... as usual.

The Top 10 moments of the premiere:

1. Sylar is a Petrelli ... or at least a half brother of Peter and Nathan.
2. Sylar finally has Claire's powers. Tsk. Tsk. Tsk.
3. Ando will kill Hero in the future. (That seems unlikely.)
4. Mohinder develops a power (and a sex drive).
5. Mohinder and Maya hook up.
6. Tracy (AKA: Jessica and Nikki) has a new name and new freezing power. Thank goodness!
7 Peter is trapped in the body of a villain ... thanks to Peter.
8. The villains have escaped and are wreaking havoc.
9. Mama Petrelli has vivid dreams. That's a power.
10. There's a new really, really fast girl on the show.

What did you think of the season premiere? Did it pull you in? What the hell's going on with Mohinder's skin? What do you think of Tracy/Jessica/Nikki's new power? Would you try Mohinder's syrum?
